How To Add Tags To Blog In Bloglovin
Introducing Tags on Bloglovin' — and What It Means for Brands
We recently launched tags on the Bloglovin' platform — allowing our users to find posts across any topic, as niche as #PaleoRecipes and #PomPomSandals and #DistressedHighWaistedDenim
Josh Fischer, VP of Product & Analytics at Bloglovin', on why this is an important feature for the blogosphere:
"While Hashtags aren't a novel concept in social media, this is the first time people have been able to easily search for what millions of influencers are posting about on their blogs — across all publishing platforms.
From a data perspective, since we aggregate hundreds of thousands of posts a day from millions of influencers we can start identifying trends from an entirely different source than anyone else. Whether you're into fashion, beauty, news, sewing or food we know now what sorts of topics influencers are buzzing about."
Indeed, beyond the consumer-facing benefits of this new feature (and our users are pretty excited about it!), we are also particularly interested in how advertisers and brands can be utilizing tags.
What we hear often from brands and advertisers is that they already come to Bloglovin' to discover great influencers to collaborate with and get a sense of their content — now with tags, they can do even more:
Surface Trends Across the Blogosphere
Bloglovin' is pulling content in from over 5M blogs that publish on almost every blogging platform out there: Wordpress, Squarespace, Medium, Wix, BlogSpot, Tumblr, Weebly…the list goes on. By introducing tags on the Bloglovin' platform, users and marketers can surface trends that are bubbling up in the blogosphere.
In the last 24 hours, this is what we found to be popular (most blogged about) across Fashion, Food and Fitness categories:
- Food: #Gluten-free, #Vegan, and #EasyRecipes
- Fashion: #Floral, #Boho, and #Fringe
- Fitness: #MarathonTraining, #Yoga, #Crossfit
We can then further layer in metrics around reads, loves, saves, and shares to distill more insights around trending topics.
Brands That Are Popular with Influencers
By the same token, we can also find which brands are getting mentioned most by influencers. Within the Fashion category, we found #Zara, #Gucci, #Asos, #Chanel, and #H&M to be clear winners with influencers — they were each mentioned hundreds of times in the last 7 days! This includes both organic and sponsored mentions, and truly demonstrates the power of engaging influencers with your brand.
Examples of Branded or Sponsored Content
With the recent crackdown on adhering to FTC guidelines in influencer marketing, we are seeing more and more bloggers appropriately tagging their content with #Sponsored, #Ad, #Partnership, #Collab, etc., making it even easier for us to find great examples of branded collaborations.
One interesting trend we are noticing in influencer marketing: advertisers are branching out beyond their default categories and focusing more on just engaging influencers that fit their brand — for example, Urban Outfitters engaging a Food influencer, Faring Well, to create recipe content, unexpected for a fashion brand.
We are excited about what bringing tags onto the Bloglovin' platform means for our 9M+ registered users globally, our 800K+ influencers, and the hundreds of brands & advertisers that we partner with. Stay tuned as we continue to refine this product feature!
